Sitting in the parking lot drinking my coffee before I went into the office. I am watching two sisters, probably pioneers, sip their coffees and talking. I am in my car waiting for about 15 minutes and they have only gotten out of the car once to give a tract to a man who got off his bike to tie his shoe. The parking lot is bustling with activity. Yes, my thoughts exactly, REAL PRODUCTIVE!

Preaching is a waste of time
by konceptual99 inbefore anyone gives me the "bears/wood" similarities, this is a post based on insidethekh's reply on the mormon v jw thread.
(http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/beliefs/287545/1/who-is-copying-who-jws-or-mormons) i like to see wt friendly posts on here as some of the wt bashing displays the same logical fallacies as levelled against the wts and it's followers so it's good to consider reasoned debate.. on the one hand i think itkh makes a fair point if you compare the worldwide success of mormons v jws but there is an overall context to the preaching work that is completely ignored by those fully "in" and has been a major factor in my move from being an active witness to one on the cusp of getting out.
from a statistical point of view there are great headline numbers presented by the wts but if you put them in the context of the number of witnesses, conversation ratios, ratio of new witnesses to birth rates, numbers that must be leaving, growth differentials across the globe, penetration in muslim nations and so on then these numbers become meaningless.

Who is copying who? Jws or Mormons?
by stuckinarut2 init amazes me!.
witnesses go on about how "blessed we are to have the website and all the content from jehovah etc".
but i have been noticing the parallels between jws and the mormons!.

Mormons are one of the most commercial religions out there. They have rebranded themselves since the death of Gordon B. Hinckley who was quite successful at making them a major player in the global religious stage. Monson, their current prophet and his Quorum of the Twelve are quite astute at the need for commercialization and keeping up with technologies. Long before the JW's decided they should "televise" their Annual Meeting, the Mormons have been hooked up with their Salt Lake City Utah headquarters via satellite for decades......way behind the times JW's! Every thing that the JW's do from now on will be a copycat of the success of the LDS!

New requirement to become an Elder or Ministerial Servant!
by hardtobeme init has been a few months since i hear this from an elder.
he said that the c/o told them this new requirement.. "men that wanna be an elder or ministerial servant has to go out to field service on sundays.
if there is an elder or ministerial servant that is not going out to field service on sunday can lose the priviledge".

Just to make sure you know this, every CO is now an autonomous entity. He is in charge of appointing and deleting. Please him and you will go far. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. These kind of rules will become commonplace. If you wish to be a servant or elder, you better ask for the new rule book BEFORE he shows up. Oh, there isn't one? Well, you no what that means....when there is no rule book....YOU SHOULDN'T PLAY THE GAME!

Yes, I agree with the post about the seven trumpets and how outrageous it was to read that they signified some obscure little convention in Cedar Point Ohio of all places. It really shows the power of Fred Franz and his influence over the writing committee. They were always intimidated by him....the ORACLE as he was called by many, including some of the GB. Little did they know that he would be worm fodder like the rest of that first group. At least, however, they TRIED to write something deep.
Today's GB is so devoid of depth that all they have to talk about are worthless frivolities. I recall Paul said not to argue about foolish things, well, these guys have nothing else to argue about....

@ NSW2G
"My post was to discuss what effect it would have on dubs still in if it were true. "
Well, I believe that they would start by saying, "you see, it can even happen to one of the GB. The Bible says, "let he that is standing beware that he does not fall."
or
"Looks like Jehovah is performing a sifting work even in our time..."
or
"I knew that guy was kind of flakey, he probably had tight pants, colorful socks, SPANXX, and a wife that he couldn't pick up."

Since Elders And Mini Servants Have To Be Exemplary How Does Anyone Ever Qualify?
by minimus init seems to me that you must be almost perfect to be a " servant" in the organization today.
no college, no spiritually weak in the family, no disfellowshipped living at home, no tight pants, etc......who can live up to their lofty ideals?.

@ Apognophos
I did, in fact, respond to his question. But, that wasn't the point of my post. His response sums up what every hard core witness now believes and that is....whatever the ORG says. If the ORG says "tight pants" are bad and that is the most important thing to know, then the hardcore says, "That's right!"
As for the response that I might have "wanted," well, to tell you the truth, it was the response I was expecting. No argument, no matter how well presented or planned can break through the dissonance of one so engaged.

Not difficult.....John was the precursor, the announcer of Jesus, the messiah. So, he was a BIG DEAL in the fulfillment of messianic prophecy. As great as he was, though, he was still simply gonna be another recipient of salvation and eternal reward. If you notice the context of Matthew, there are those that approach Jesus, sent by John. John was a BIG DEAL to them. He was their teacher, much in the same way as Jesus had his followers. So, they ask him a question and that question originated with John, in other words, JOHN wanted to know, "Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect another?"(Matt 11:3) You see, as much as John knew about Jesus, he wasn't sure...
Jesus, then, in order to solildfy his Messiahship and help those followers of John, said what he said in Matthew 11:11. In essence Jesus is saying, "John, as great as he is to you guys and in the fulfillment of my messiahship, he is still no greater than any one of you who accept the kingdom. In fact, he will be the least...."
As much as the ORG tries to paint the picture that he will be part of those that get resurrected to earth and thus lower than anyone in heaven, the New Testament does not speak of any such thing. If you are a Christian there is one hope....go to heaven that's it.
